President Dan Clements

A veteran of selling vertical market software for 20 years, began his Internet career 8 years ago as a partner with an online advertising company. It was here where he encountered his first fraudster, a spammer. As online spammers moved into E-commerce fraud, he followed. After befriending a number of so called "white hats", Mr. Clements collected the various tools online thieves were using and opened the first online "Fraud Museum". It was during this process that Mr. Clements saw the value of going into the underground and exploring the various activities that were being used to hack E-commerce Merchants and fleece the identities of Consumers. This data was used to form CardCops.com, which is now the premier identity theft watchdog on the Net.

Mr. Clements believes in taking proactive front-end action towards the global fight against credit card fraud and identity theft, thus saving merchants, banks, and consumers time and money. This is demonstrated by the precedent setting projects he has developed and coordinated, such as E-commerce stings, E-commerce honeypots, exposing credit back scams, and introducing a database for consumers to identify if their credit cards have been exposed on the Net. Mr. Clements also created the first Amnesty Program for reporting compromised cards and personal information, and a NeighborNet Watch program for reporting unsecure sites or scams.

Mr. Clements is frequently quoted in local and national publications regarding online fraud and has appeared on global TV and Radio shows including CNN, BBC, Good Morning America, NPR, and FoxNews. He has taught Advanced Internet Investigations at Search.org. and also lends his expertise to various law enforcement agencies.
